Our Principal
The founder of January Partners, Matt Capell, has extensive deal execution and operating experience. Prior to founding January Partners, Matt ran the day-to-day operations of a $20 million, private equity-backed payment processing and debt collection business. He also spent 8+ years in private equity investing and investment banking with firms such as Soros Private Equity Partners, Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and Alex. Brown & Sons. During his career, he has participated in nearly $150 million in principal investment transactions, raised $2.6 billion in debt and equity capital and advised companies on $36 billion of M&A transaction volume. Within the market segment pursued by January Partners, Matt executed six (6) acquisitions in a 24-month period of companies with less than $5 million in cash flow for a $100 million private equity group. Matt earned his MBA from Stanford Business School and graduated with distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he double majored in Economics and Psychology and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
